Key Milestones
1949
Vertex Chemical founded in St. Louis, Missouri. The company vision was to be dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of industrial Sodium Hypochlorite. While customers and markets served have evolved over our history, Vertex Chemical has built its reputation on providing quality products at fair prices to all the industries that we serve.
1969
Moved our manufacturing facility to Dupo, Illinois.
1973
Added a second manufacturing site in Dewitt, Iowa.
1981
Added a third manufacturing site on Presidents Island in Memphis, Tennessee.
1986
Moved from Dewitt to Camanche, Iowa on a 67-acre river served site with 5,300 feet of rail spurs and private dock on the Mississippi River. Today, this site includes a hypochlorite manufacturing facility, 3.2 million gallons of lined / insulated caustic soda storage, 210,000 gallons of hydrochloric acid storage and a state of the art terminal and transload facility.
1996
Relocation of Memphis facility to a 26-acre, river served site on President's Island in Memphis. This grass roots facility includes a manufacturing department, barge terminal with 1.7 million gallons lined / insulated caustic soda storage and 3 rail spurs totaling 3,000 feet.
2007
Expansion of Dupo packaging department, first added in 1985.
